Whoever watched BBC Horizon – The truth about exercise, a BBC documentary film, was surprised to witness Michael Mosley proving how cycling exercise bike intensely for few minutes burns more calories than running for hours. Well, running does burn a lot of calories, but certainly not the most. Working out at high intensity for small interval of time burns most calories in reality. Here are the 6 exercises that burns fat faster and can have just as many health benefits than longer endurance training sessions.

1. Exercise bike

The average indoor cycling class may burn between 400 to 600 calories per session, and indoor cycling in general may lead to weight loss and improved cardiovascular fitness, as well as more muscle definition.

2. Jump Rope / Speed Rope

The good old skipping the rope can have your heart rate skyrocketing and burn as many as 12 calories per 100-120 jumps per minute.

3. Burpees

If there’s one body weight exercise that can kick your ass, it has to be burpees. A single burpee can burn up to 1.43 calories, so if you get 10 per minute, you’re burning 14.3 calories per set. Burpees are also known for improving metabolism.

4. Kettlebell Swing

The most underrated workout in Indian gyms, Kettlebell swings puts to work your abdominal muscles, shoulder muscles and back muscles. When done at a high intensity, you can burn up to 20 calories per minute.

5. Battle Ropes

Another high intensity workout, battle ropes will help you shed fat from your triceps and forearm. Since it’s a high intensity workout, you can burn 10-12 calories per minute.

6. Indoor Rowing Machine
