These days, you probably hear the word “organic” tossed around a lot.  It seems like almost everything can be labeled as organic, from beer to even pet food.  Many beauty and self-care brands have started creating organic products as well, in an effort to promote healthier alternatives to the things we put on our bodies.  If you’re new to the organic movement, here are 5 holy grail beauty and self-care products you should start with.

Skincare

You probably know that taking care of your skin is important, but do you actually know what’s in the products you’re using on your face and body?  Using natural, organic skincare products is crucial to your skin’s health, and thankfully there are tons of options currently on the market. First, consider the cleanser you use.  A cleanser should have a simple formula and should not contain any harsh chemicals or ingredients. You should also try to use as many natural products as possible, and try to switch out unnatural ones with healthier alternatives, such as using witch hazel as toner.

Feminine Hygiene

Using natural, organic feminine hygiene products is essential to your feminine health.  Many store-bought pads and tampons contain chemicals and materials that can be harmful to your body, which is why it’s so important to pay special attention to what you’re putting on or in your body.  Using chemical free tampons and pads, as well as wipes, cleansers, and other products, will ensure that you’re using only safe and organic feminine care products.

Deodorant

You’ve probably heard about the dangers of using many store-bought deodorants and antiperspirants, and whether or not it’s true that using deodorant can lead to breast cancer, it is still a good rule of thumb to avoid deodorants with a lot of chemicals.  There are tons of natural, organic deodorants on the market that you can use to replace your usual deodorant, making it easier than ever to make the switch.  These deodorants are made of all-natural ingredients, like coconut oil, shea butter, and essential oils. While you may need to try a few different ones before you find one that works best for you, switching it an organic deodorant is a decision you’ll thank yourself for later.

Lip Balm

During the colder, dryer months, lip balm can be a saving grace.  However, there is still an alarming number of people who regularly use brands like Chapstick, which has been proven to not actually hydrate your lips, but rather just sit on top of them.  Using an all-natural, moisturizing lip balm is essential to the look and feel of your lips, especially during the colder months, when chapped lips are more prevalent. When looking for an organic lip balm, look for ingredients like beeswax, coconut oil, and cocoa butter.  These ingredients will actually keep your lips moisturized and ensure you have smooth, healthy lips year-round!
