Momos have managed to become a popular starter/snack/meal for all. Kids just love Momos as much as any other snacks. So here we are sharing the recipe on how to make the delicious Momos.

Ingredients

For Dough

  • Refined flour (maida) -1 Cup
  • Oil – 2 tbsp
  • Salt – To taste
  • Water as needed

For Stuffing

  • Sesame oil (til oil) – 1 tsp
  • Spring onions finely chopped – 2
  • Ginger finely chopped – 1 inch piece
  • Green chilli finely chopped – 1
  • Cabbage – 1/2
  • French beans finely chopped – 10
  • Carrot finely chopped – 1 medium
  • Spring onion greens chopped – 1 stalk
  • Salt – to taste
  • Black pepper crushed- 8-10
  • Light soy sauce – 1/2 tbsp

For sauce

  • Oil – 1tsp
  • Green Chilies chopped – 1 tsp
  • Ginger chopped – ¼ tsp
  • Garlic chopped – ¼ tsp
  • Corn flour – 1 tbsp
  • Water – 1 cup
  • Soya Sauce -1 tsp
  • Tomato Ketchup (you can use chili sauce also if you like) – 2 tbsp
  • Sugar – 1tsp
  • Vinegar – 1tsp
  • Salt – 1/2 tsp
  • Red chili powder – 1/8 tsp (You can also add chilli sauce)
 

Method

  1. Mix Refined Flour with water and knead into a soft dough. Cover with a damp cloth and set aside for 15 minutes.
  2. Heat Oil in a non stick wok. Add spring Onions, Ginger and Green chilli and saute. Add Beans, Carrot, Spring Onion Greens, Cabbage, Salt, Pepper powder, Soy sauce and mix well.
  3. Cook for 2-3 minutes and then let it remain aside to cool.
  4. Meanwhile prepare Sauce, fry chilies, garlic and ginger for 1 minute. Add corn flour in water and add to the pan. Add rest of the ingredients and cook till the mixture becomes thick.
  5. Divide the dough into small balls. Roll it with the help of rolling pin, keep edges thin and the centre thick.
  6. Place a portion of stuffing in the centre, gather the edges and seal together. You can try different shapes too.
  7. Put it in a steamer and steam for 10-12 minutes. If you do not have a steamer you can use an Idli stand.
  8. Serve the Momos hot with desired sauce.
