They have pointed out how there are some complications, which are specific to women. Most importantly, they have also made a cause for individual women and their family members not paying attention to medical issues when they first emerge. The academic literature is rife with insights as to how women have to juggle multiple roles. Studies on working women taking full responsibility for the family have shown how there is literally no time left for them to look after their well-being and concern. In this article, we will try our best to stress the importance of women’s health issues. In addition, we will also look at some of the major threats that women need to be aware of. List of Major Health Issues and Threats women need to be aware of 1. Cancer Issues- As we have already pointed out, women are at risk of developing specific forms of cancer. Breast and cervical cancers are one of the leading reasons for death in women. By having regular check-ups (you can perform breast inspection at your home itself), you can detect any issues as soon as they emerge. This will allow you to be better prepared in terms of fighting the same. You can request your doctor to show you how you can perform a breast examination inspection. Doing this every month is something, which experts suggest for early detection. 2. Mental Health Issues- Women are far more likely to suffer from anxiety, depression, and stress as compared to men. PMS (Pre-Menstrual Syndrome), IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), and other conditions are the result of poor mental health. Doing meditation, yoga, and investing in physical exercises can help in releasing positive hormones. According to leading therapists, positive hormones can play a constructive role in relieving and addressing depression, anxiety, and emotional issues. Having to maintain multiple roles are the same can be quite mentally taxing and exhausting in addition to being physically draining. 3. Reproduction and Maternal Issues- Women suffer from a lot of sexual and reproductive health threats because of a number of reasons. Unsafe sex, leading to Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs), are a major concern, especially in third world countries, where contraceptive use is still not followed by the majority. While maternal health facilities have improved, there is still a long way to go in this regard. Experts state that nearly half a million women lose their life because of poor medical infrastructure, especially in the underdeveloped countries of the world. Improvements by the government in this regard will go a long way in saving the lives of young women. 4. Osteoporosis and Bone Issues- As the body of women needs a lot of nutrition during childbirth and lactation (breastfeeding), proper diet and calcium intake are absolutely necessary. If this is not addressed, it leads to health complications like osteoporosis, which in simple words is the weakening of the bones. This can also lead to the occurrence of fractures, which at an advanced age can get life-threatening in nature. Hip fractures are pretty common in women above the age of fifty who might face slip and fall accidents. Arthritis is also one of the effects, which can be seen in women because of weaker bones. 5. Autoimmune Issues- Many medical experts have pointed out that women are prone to suffer from autoimmune disorders and related issues. In such a situation, the cells in the body responsible for fighting foreign infections turn against the normal body organs because of faulty reception and signs sent from the brain. This causes pain, fever, rashes, and even vertigo. Doctors suggest that making small changes to lifestyle can help in preventing the rise of autoimmune issues. they state that women should be very careful of their artificial sugar intake levels. In addition, consuming lower fat content meals can play an important role in preventing the rise and spread of autoimmune disorders. How Women can maintain Good Health by making Lifestyle Changes? Medical experts have pointed out that while some diseases, infections, and illnesses can be genetic in nature, others are simply lifestyle-oriented. For example, many heart-related complications, mental health concerns, and others can be worked on and prevented by adopting a healthier lifestyle. Consumption of Alcohol and Tobacco should be Restricted or Stopped- Leading scientifically proven studies have shown how consuming alcohol by women can increase the risk of developing different kinds of cancers. Most notably liver and breast cancer. Smoking too much or even being a passive smoker can have a detrimental impact on the lungs and reproductive organs. Intake of Green Vegetables and Healthy Foods should be Increased- It is important that women start increasing the intake of leafy vegetables, proteins, and whole grains in their day-to-day diet. This will not only allow them to increase energy levels, leading to more productivity but will also allow for anti-oxidants to fight against different kinds of viruses and infections. Physical Activity and Meditation- Regular exercises of a moderate nature can go a long way in improving heart muscles and bone structures. This should be complemented by Yoga or Meditation to help calm the mind. If you start doing this regularly, you will see a major difference in the way you feel every morning you get up. The Bottom Line Women by themselves are stressed and under so much pressure of executing day-to-day responsibilities, that they by themselves are not going to take the lead in addressing health issues. It is the responsibility of others- husbands, children, in-laws, etc. to ensure that women members in the family are looking after their health and fitness in the best possible fashion. By following a healthy lifestyle, as a woman, you can prevent many of the complications from arising. Regular testing and inspections can also allow you to make early detection, which in turn can improve your chances of faster and complete recovery.
